For some jobs, rotary die cutting is not the best cutting method. There are three main benefits achieved when using semi-rotary cutting. Sometimes, the benefits are outweighed by cons, and so each die cutting job should be appreciated on a case-to-case basis.
Advantages of semi-rotary die cutting include: semi-rotary dies only require a single magnetic cylinder, rather than needing one for each size.
Downtown during set up is reduced: set up time for this die cutting is shorter than other types. This is mainly due to not needing to change die cylinder on different jobs. It is only a plate with an integrated changing tool. Change-over between jobs will take less time, which saves you money.
High-speed processing: speed is compromised with semi-rotary die cutting, but that is not a worry. We die cut at a pace that corresponds to our digital print engine.
